How to be productive during the coronavirus lockdown

by Joanna Konstantopoulou

Coronavirus continues to have a rapidly growing impact on the world, especially on our working life. Because fewer people are able to be within close proximity to their ordinary working environment, people are finding it harder to stay productive.

Here are some quick tips on how to upkeep productivity when the norm is disrupted.

Distance yourself from distractions

You might not be used to working from home, and may face challenges as a result of this. An important step to maintaining productivity at home is to establish a dedicated workplace without distractions. Not only will this help boost concentration, but can minimise the stress that you might find in your day-to-day routine communing at work.

One thing you can do is wear clothes that you wouldn’t lounge around in at home, such as your work uniform – this helps to trigger a productive mindset.

Taking breaks

While it might seem counter-intuitive, productivity can be greatly boosted by taking regular breaks. This will help you to recharge and maintain focus when you resume tasks.

Just ensure that the breaks aren’t too long and that you’re replenishing yourself when doing so. Drinking plenty of water will keep you hydrated, meaning that you can work efficiently.

Practice optimism

An optimistic outlook and attitude towards tasks can boost the productivity at which they are completed. While this may be difficult with the uncertainties of the coronavirus, a negative outlook can only add to the stress

In essence, the workflow doesn’t have to be negatively impacted on account of coronavirus and can be boosted by working efficiently in home environments when you set yourself the proper conditions.
